Формула категорического отказа.Так, согласно новозаветному преданию (Деяния апостолов, 4.20), ответили апостолы Петр и Иоанн на требование священников и саддукеев не проповедовать учение Христа: Non enim possumus quae vidimus et audivimus non loqui. "Мы не можем не говорить того, что видели и слышали". Эти слова стали формулой отказа римских пап выполнить требования светской власти.
